Let’s mend, not end. Sponsored by Keep Truckee Green, these FREE workshops at the Truckee Roundhouse will teach you how to repair your clothing instead of throwing it away. Together, we can reduce textile waste while learning new skills.
Workshops are taught by Judi Morales Meyer, Textiles Instructor at the Truckee Roundhouse. All classes are open to students aged 12 – adult, at any experience level, especially beginners. Students under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Tools and sewing machines are provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own if they want to learn how to use their own machine. Roundhouse has a large selection of donated fabrics, threads, and notions for student use, but students may also bring their own to match their specific project. Participants should bring clothing or textile items needing repair.
Los talleres en español son impartidos por María Vega. Anímate a dar una segunda vida a tus prendas favoritas. Los participantes aprenderán técnicas básicas como remendar, zurcir y coser para arreglar agujeros, roturas o descosidos. No se necesita experiencia previa en costura: nuestra experta instructora, María, te guiará paso a paso. Trae algunas prendas que necesites reparar y sal con piezas restauradas y la confianza de que podrás hacer reparaciones por ti mismo.

The goal of this series is to support our Truckee community in learning new repair skills and to give our products a second life, reducing waste and keeping items out the landfills.
