Litter Mitigation
Town Programs
The Town of Truckee is dedicated to addressing litter to preserve our unique, pristine environment. Through Town programs and infrastructure, community events, source reduction initiatives, and outreach and education, we can all help to beautify our community and protect the local environment and wildlife.
Here are a few of the ways the Town of Truckee is working to reduce litter in our community:

Ongoing community clean-up efforts such as Truckee Day, Truckee Litter Corps, and the Grab a Bag program. Click through the links above to find out how you can get involved!

Providing convenient and accessible disposal containers, including solar-powered compacting trash cans in downtown Truckee.

Landscaping, beautification, and ongoing maintenance of Town-owned facilities and infrastructure, as well as a contract with Clean Tahoe for regular litter removal.

Funding a Trailhead Ambassador program in partnership with Truckee Trails Foundation to educate trail users on how to recreate responsibly, and inspire visitors and community members to take care of our environment.

Developing programs and policies to reduce the use of commonly littered items, including single-use plastic bottles and single-use foodware.

Providing a convenient online platform for community members to report trash issues, such as litter or illegal dumping, through SeeClickFix.
