Go Electric Truckee Tahoe
The Go Electric Truckee Tahoe program provides free resources to support building electrification in the Truckee-Tahoe region. Building electrification, or replacing natural gas and propane appliances and equipment with electric ones, is a key greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction strategy. The emissions from burning natural gas and propane, particularly for heating buildings and water, is one of the largest contributors to local GHG emissions. The electricity supplied to the Truckee-Tahoe region is from increasingly renewable sources, and will be 100% renewable and carbon-free by 2045.

The Go Electric Truckee Tahoe program is an initiative of the Climate Transformation Alliance, a regional public-private partnership dedicated to achieving carbon neutrality* in the North Tahoe and Truckee area by 2045. The Town of Truckee is a founding partner of the Climate Transformation Alliance, which supports development of local policy and initiatives that will promote the resilience of our community, recognizing that more can be achieved together
*Carbon Neutrality is achieved by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from human activity (e.g. transportation, building energy use, landfills) as much as possible, and implementing strategies that help remove and sequester carbon dioxide from the air (such as improved forest management and wetland restoration) to offset any remaining emissions.
