Compostable plastic and bioplastics can only break down in industrial composting facilities, which are not widely available. These products are sent to landfill. Bioplastics are not necessarily the best single-use utensil option because they require intense plant and water inputs to produce them. Reusable utensils and dishware are always the best option.
