The crinkly shiny lining inside chip and snack bags is made out of mixed material, including aluminum and plastic. These materials cannot be separated to be recycled and must go in the trash.
To tell if a item is recyclable you can do the crinkle test. Simply crush up the material in your hand, and if it bounces back into it’s shape, it’s not recyclable.
