EV Fleet Vehicles

The Town of Truckee has committed to reducing its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 40% by 2030 and 80% by 2040. According to the Town of Truckee 2022 Municipal Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory, the Town’s vehicle fleet is responsible for 34% of the Town’s municipal GHG emissions.
As of 2025, the Town has over 10 electric vehicles in its municipal fleet, a significant step towards reducing emissions and advancing our climate goals. These vehicles are replacing existing gasoline vehicles within the fleet that were at the end of their life and due to be replaced.
Electricity used to power these vehicles is provided from Truckee Donner PUD, of which 60% is sourced from renewable resources. The new EVs will not only help reduce the Town’s carbon footprint but also offer economic benefits through lower fuel and maintenance costs, freeing up funds for other community priorities.
