The Town of Truckee is proud to announce the addition of 10 electric vehicles (EVs) to our municipal fleet, a significant step towards reducing emissions and advancing our climate action goals. Previously the Town had one EV, and these new vehicles have been purchased to replace existing gasoline vehicles within the fleet that were due to be replaced. This move supports our aim to cut community-wide greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2040. Currently, about 60% of Truckee Donner PUD’s electricity comes from renewable resources. The emissions from these vehicles will continue to decrease as Truckee Donner PUD gets more electricity from renewable and zero-carbon sources.

The new EVs will not only help reduce the Town’s carbon footprint but also offer economic benefits through lower fuel and maintenance costs, freeing up funds for other community priorities. The expansion complements our existing EV infrastructure, including 17 public charging ports at various town facilities, supporting broader electric vehicle adoption across Truckee.

This initiative reflects our commitment to environmental leadership, setting an example for residents and businesses to follow as we work towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.
